Essential Oils and Cancer

• Perillyl alcohol (POH), an extract found in essential oils, is being studied for preventing and treating breast cancer cells. POH extract has shown promise in reversing the growth of advanced breast tumors in rats. The Cancer Institute and Department of Biological Sciences, University of Nevada.

• After applying POH, an extract found in essential oils, and heating cells for 1 hour, 99.8% of mouse cancer cells were destroyed. Radiobiology Laboratory at the University of Minnesota Medical School, November 2003.

• Perrillyl alcohol, an extract found in essential oils, suppressed both growth and metastasis on human breast cancer cells, Kansai University, Osaka Japan, April 2004.

• POH, an extract found in essential oils, applied topically can reduce incidence of melanoma in laboratory mice. Stanford University, Department of Radiation Oncology.

Essential Oils in Bacteria Control and Wound Healing

Essential Oils and Pain Management

• Lavender oil and acupressure in combination with acupoint stimulation is an effective therapy for short-term reduction of lower back pain, Complementary Therapies in Medicine.

• Lavender aromatherapy during vascular wound dressing changes caused a significant reduction in pain intensity after dressing change, British Journal of Nursing, November 2004.

Pest Control
